Contrary to other comments, it was already assembled and I didn't have to do it myself. It comes as flat in the box and you just have to turn one part to stand it up. Either way, it's really cute, I didn't try to put heavy stuff on it but I would maybe not recommand for the top shelf. There is also a lot of space between each wooden sticks on the shelves ; so if you have small books/notebooks, it may go through if you don't place them correctly.
the item is really nice and so pretty , it's quite big/medium and it fits a lot of things on there.
